Advanced Orthopaedics appreciates the confidence you have shown in choosing us for your orthopaedic care. We have fully committed ourselves to providing you with the highest level of service and quality of care. INSURANCE

Because so many variables exist with insurance plans, knowing your coverage will ensure that you are not left with avoidable out-of-pocket expenses. In order to prevent any misunderstandings about your medical insurance coverage, we encourage you to inquire about insurance and billing questions prior to receiving care at Advanced Orthopaedics. Frequently, health insurance companies may pay only part of the physician’s fee and services. The extent of your benefits is determined by your individual policy.

We would like to point out that when having surgery, you can expect to receive multiple invoices including those from your surgeon, the hospital or Advanced Orthopaedics Surgery Suite as well as from the anesthesia group. If you are having an MRI study, you will receive an invoice from the radiologist.

Please be prepared to make any required co-payment at the time of your visit. Also, please make sure you notify the receptionist if your insurance or address has changed since your last visit.

Once you provide us with your most up-to-date insurance information, we will gladly file your medical claims for processing with your insurance carrier. Patients are encouraged to verify that their claims are processed. The remaining balance will be billed to the guarantor. Payment is expected upon receipt of your statement from Advanced Orthopaedics.

FINANCING OPTIONS

We are aware that our services are often expensive and that patients can have difficulty in balancing budgets when faced with unexpected medical expenses. This has become even more difficult as health insurers have shifted their costs to patients by increasing deductibles, co-insurance, and co-payments. For these reasons, we now offer a wider range of options to help our patients pay for these costs.

Financing options for your out-of-pocket costs at Advanced Orthopaedics include:

90-day Payment Plans with no interest.
Credit/Debit Cards: We accept MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express
Specialty medical credit offered by Care Credit®, for which we can help you apply in our offices.
Customized credit arrangements through HealthFirst Financial® for those without other credit resources.

Uninsured Patients Experiencing Financial Hardships

Advanced Orthopaedics offers discounts off its normal fee schedule for those patients without medical insurance. These discounts are available only to those patients who are not covered by health insurance or a third party liability insurance company or other payer. Deposits

A deposit is required for patients who are uninsured or have an insurance policy with a deductible of $1,000 or more. These payments are deposits only, and you may be billed for any balance in excess of the amount of the deposit. Deposits must be paid prior to receiving our services. The amount of the deposit is:

Collection Practices

Because we offer a range of flexible financing options, we in turn expect patients to meet their obligation to make payments in a timely fashion. In the event that we have not agreed to a financing plan, any balance on your account over 90 days will be assessed a finance charge each month of 1.5% of the balance on the account.
If scheduled payments are delinquent by 60 days, we will refer your account to a collection agency or attorney for resolution. Should you have difficulty in making a payment, please call us right away to make payment arrangements so that we do not have to take this action, which can affect your credit record.

If you are unable to make your appointment, please call us 24 hrs. in advance so that we can offer your appointment time to another patient.

GLOBAL PERIOD

Surgical procedures are assigned a “global” period of time during which additional evaluations by the surgeon are considered to be standard follow-up care and are provided without additional cost. This does not include additional x-rays, injections, casts or other supplies received during the global period, which will be billed. Advanced Orthopaedics will not ask you to pay a co-payment at the time of service during a global period, and you will be billed for any balance associated with an ancillary service. Please ask your surgical team about the length of this global period, which may vary from 10 days for a simple procedure to 90 days for a more complicated one.
