Michael Crouch at Advanced Orthopaedics

Olympic-caliber athletes require top-notch medical care, so when 2-time NCAA champion and 6-time All American runner, Michael Crouch requested the assistance of our orthopaedic sports medicine specialist, Dr. Marion Herring, we were more than happy to oblige. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere similar to that of an Olympic Development center, where our team of physicians and therapists work hand-in-hand to develop an athlete specific treatment plan, all while staying in close communication with coaches and sponsors. After evaluations, by Dr. Herring and Dr. Robert Green of Active Chiropractic, Michael was given the opportunity to take advantage of an underwater treadmill through the Greater Richmond Aquatic Partnership, as well as full access to our Physical Therapy gym which now offers anti-gravity training on our AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill.

The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is a training tool tested and utilized by professional athletes and teams across the country. With only a few machines throughout the region, this advanced technology helps to provide a lower-impact, essentially pain-free recovery. Michael trained with Physical Therapist, Megan Presby, on the Alter-G because of it’s unique “un-weighting” effect which allows you to train between 20% up to 100% of your body weight, so you can get moving early without risking harm to a healing injury or surgical procedure. Gait analysis and foot mechanics evaluations are also available with this technology, so you can optimize your running technique and minimize injury. If you are interested in a consultation, please feel free to call us at (804) 497-2583.

Urgent Message to All Advanced Orthopaedic Patients

Dear Patients,

We know that many of you have heard the news regarding the multi-state meningitis outbreak. The CDC has coordinated an investigation of fungal meningitis among patients who received an epidural steroid injection. The investigation has shown that these infected patients received potentially contaminated steroid medication prepared by New England Compounding Center, located in Framingham, Massachusetts.

We want to reassure you that the steroid we utilize in our practice is NOT from a compounding pharmacy. The steroid medication we use is manufactured by a pharmaceutical company, not a compounding pharmacy.

Your safety and the quality of your treatment here at AO is our primary concern. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 804 672 9101 ext. 8000.

Sincerely,
The Physicians of Advanced Orthopaedics
